The Café & Restaurant are fully licensed and are open from 10am to 5pm every day except Monday and Tuesday.

The Restaurant is also open on Friday and Saturday evenings from 6.00pm when booking is advisable.

Our opening hours may vary during the winter so it's best to call and check.

We have a lovely south facing courtyard for alfresco dining and a real coal fire in winter.

Our emphasis is on good food and wine. Our food is imaginatively prepared using the best of local, seasonal produce and herbs from the garden. Our menu changes daily and all of our meals are freshly made on the premises either by our Head Chef, Albert or by Steve.

Best Shropshire Sirloin cooked to your taste stuffed with a roasted Mediterranean vegetable medley and a fresh tomato sauce.

Fillet of Pork stuffed with garlic and herbs wrapped in Proscuttio ham and gently roasted to perfection.

Tournedos Rossini à la Poppy House £17.50
A tender tournedos (fillet) of Shropshire Beef laid on a toasted crouton topped with a homemade Paté and served with a rich Poppy House Madeira Sauce.

Eel Boulangère £9.50
Tender pieces of fresh Eel roasted with onions, wrapped in proscuttio ham and served on a bed of Spanish style sautéed potatoes.

Duck à l’Orange with a twist £11.50
Breast of Duck cooked to your liking served with a sweet orange and fresh coriander sauce.

Salmon Albert £9.95
Grilled salmon supreme with a light petit pois and cucumber sauce.

Autumnal Pork Chop £9.75
Grilled Pork chop topped with an autumnal fruit crust served with caramelised onion.

Shropshire Fillet of Lamb £12.75
Grilled fillet of Shropshire lamb delicately flavoured with garlic and rosemary and cooked in a bacon wrapping.

Seabass en Papillote £11.50
Fresh fillet of Seabass slowly cooked in a parcel with a mustard and star anise sauce and served on a bed of caramelised pineapple.

Pozarski £8.75
A traditional Russian chicken dish which has to be tasted to be believed! A combination of selected chicken cuts and herbs cooked to Albert’s secret recipe.

All main courses are served with a choice of either New Potatoes or Chips as well as either Fresh vegetables or a Mixed Salad.

Cooked breakfasts are available until 11am and we also serve a wide range of sandwiches and baked potatoes.

Disabled Access

There is disabled access to the lower restaurant and courtyard. There is also a disabled toilet and access to this is through the courtyard. As part of our renovation work we have tried to make the building easier to use for those who have difficulty moving around but please be aware that, due to the age and nature of the building it has a number of steps and corners.
